Daniel Holland

In this weeks edition of 'Meet the Crew', we meet one of our most unassuming, ever reliable and always smiling members.

Name:  Daniel Holland
Rank:  Qualified Firefighter
Length of Service:  13 years (as at 11th June 2016)
Nickname/s:  Demodan, Dan, Dan the Man
Employer:  Streamline Plumbing and Drainage

Why he joined:
"I saw an ad wanting daytime staff. Having a job that allowed me to be available during the day, I thought I'd give it a go and have never looked back. It's a great way to give back to the community, work with a great bunch of people and gives my wife a break, which I'm sure she enjoys!"

Fun Fact:
Daniel competed in the 2016 Combat Challenge season. He competed in all three categories (Individual, Relay and Tandem) with a personal best individual time of 2:54.40 (66th Open Male and 15th Over 40s) achieved at the National Competition held in Wellington.  His goal is to one day make the Lions Den (Sub 2-minute time).

Daniel is one of the quietest members in the brigade, he doesn't say too much but has a great sense of humour, so when he cracks a joke you know it's a going to be a good one. He is always at training, turns out to almost every call and is one of the most active members we have. He is also one of the most genuine guys you will ever meet and we are terribly lucky to have such a valuable member in the Stokes Valley brigade.
